Sightseeing Tours

Legends and serious archive documents will reveal secrets of the life of the town which is 11 centuries old and where wonderful historical and architectural monuments are preserved. Visitors will see the Belozersk Kremlin, including the moat and earthen walls dated back to the 15th century, related to the defensive architecture (a place where the Moscow property was hidden), historical ponds, the bridge over the moat dated back to the 19th century, enjoy the view of the town and White Lake, visit the memorial to warriors from Belozersk who were fallen on the Kulikovo field (1380), see the Dormitory Church (16th century),  the Savior’s Transfiguration Cathedral (17th century),  the All-Merciful Savior’s Cathedral (early 18th century).

During this tour visitors will get familiar with the past of the Belozersk region, the history of construction of the Belozersk fortress, enjoy the view of White Lake which keeps secrets and mysteries in its deep waters, see the Savior’s Transfiguration Cathedral standing very close to it, walk along the town streets to have a look at the well preserved civil architecture.

As part of the sightseeing tour, visit the following sites:
• Church of the Assumption of the Virgin (1563), Church of the Epiphany (1787) – operating, church shop at the temple;
• the shopping area of the city of Belozersk, shopping malls of the XIX century;
• take a walk along the former Mostovaya Street (now Sovetsky Ave.), see merchant mansions of the XIX century;
• Church of the Savior the Merciful (1728), possible elevation to the bell tower (for donation to the parish);
• * The embankment of the Belozersky bypass canal, a memorial sign to the Belozersky Sudoku;
• the shore of the White Lake (in agreement with the organizers).

Visitors will walk around the historical part of Belozersk, raise to the top of the earthen walls dated back to the 15th century from where they will have a wonderful view of White Lake, know a lot of new and interesting facts about the lake and its main treasure – fish. They will also go down to walk along the quay where the Sovereign Fish Yard was located in the 17th – 18th centuries.
